I probably won’t comment on anything in the next couple of days… I have over 1000 unread items in my Google Reader, so I’m going to (*gulp*) hit that magic “Mark All As Read” button so that it doesn’t loom over me and make me twitch.
Sorry if I miss anything really cool… I hate to do that, but there’s no way I’m going to read over 1000 things. I’m going out of town on Friday, with no access to the internet, so that number would only get bigger and bigger, and then I would have a heart attack when I open up my homepage on Monday.

I feel your pain although not quite as extensively. This morning my bloglines was at 175 and I just couldn’t do it. So I hit mark all read and felt so much guilt. But I just needed to start fresh. It happens. When you are away from the computer for 4 days it kind of gets out of hand : ) Have a great weekend!

Hahaha. I read this in Google Reader, and I too am over 1000. But! I am no longer freaking out about this!
I put this link on Twitter the other day to a LifeHack article about organizing Google Reader (http://tinyurl.com/3t8mdl). Basically you’re supposed to cut down to four folders — Daily Reads, Weekly Reads, Occasional Reads, and Probation. I didn’t want to remove my other tags, so I just double-tagged all my blogs (http://tinyurl.com/5a656g). It is working perfectly for me, as I can read my favorites every day and feel less guilty about doing the “mark all as read” option for some of the other categories.
And now that my comment is almost officially longer than your actual blog entry, I’m going to go get some breakfast.

Oh i hate it when the greader is outta control… I just pulled a mark all read the other day cause I was getting freaked out at my growing numbers.

yikes, i’ve never gotten to that number but i have been cutting back on blogs. only reading the ones I really want to and not the ones i just got into a habit of reading but don’t really care about.
