Jobby, Job Job Job.

So, I went and talked to my old boss to see if she needed anyone, and it turns out, she was just thinking she had to go through her applications and start calling people. When I told her that I was looking for work and wanted to let her know, she got really excited and jumped up and down a couple times and asked if I was serious. I assured her that I was and we discussed details…
I told her that I would prefer to start after Christin (oh yeah, by the way… my brother & his wife have a blog now) has her baby, and she said that that was perfect because July’s schedule was already completed. So I’m going to let her know when the baby comes so we know when I’ll be back from spending a week with them, and we’ll take it from there.
I am so relieved… I hate pimping myself out to prospective employers with a passion. If there’s one thing I’m bad at, it’s trying to push myself at people. It makes me feel weird and awkward. I don’t know why, because I’m a really good employee (I am maybe not the best when I’m working for my parents, but it’s mostly parental issues that cause that, not actual work issues). I work hard and I stay late and I find creative solutions to problems, and I do what it takes to get the job done–and done well, I might add. But for some reason it’s hard for me to say all that to people, I think because it feels egotistical. It feels like “Look at me, I’m so cool. I’m all that and a bag of chips. Oh, also some dip.”
Anyway… all that to say, I am totally glad that she needed someone and was excited to have me back. I was worried that she would feel obligated or wonder why I was asking to come back, but I didn’t need to worry. So I’ll probably start sometime in August, and those of you that are local should totally come visit me and get some coffee (because I pretty much make the best coffee in Medford. I swear I’m not vain; it’s just the truth. Plus we use the best beans, so I have a head start).

Congrats! It’s tough to get back out there and ask for what we want sometimes. I certainly have had that issue.
