Welkum 2 Mai Cribz.

Today I cleaned my room. This hasn’t happed in a long time, so I decided it was time to show y’all around. This is a seriously picture-heavy post, so be forewarned.

Ready? Here we go.

First up is my dressing room. Yep, I have a dressing room. My room is the old master bedroom (we have two) and it doesn’t have a closet inside it. Instead, it has this little room with two spacious closets. This is my desk. It is all scratched up, because I bought it at Goodwill like all of my furniture. Someday I’ll repaint it, but IT IS NOT THIS DAY! THIS DAY WE… whoops. Channeled a little LOTR there for a sec…

Some of my favorite photos are on that board above my desk. Here are a few close-ups:

My family, prior to Michael’s and Grace’s births:

The valentine my sister made me this year:

My favorite picture of my sister and I, taken at the wedding of one of my former roommates in 2005:

One of my awesome chairs. I got the pair of them for free from one of my friends like 10 years ago.

The right side of my closet:

My bucket o’ shoes. One day, I’m going to have about six of these and use one for jeans, one for hoodies, one for tshirts, one for blankets, etc. I hate folding clothing with a passion.

The left side of my closet:

My DVD collection. Almost entirely chick flicks:

I am constantly writing things on little scraps of paper… A long time ago I found these funny sticky notes at the dollar store, so now I use those.

My keys, hanging on a little basket I’ve had for 10 years (!):

And here we are, inside my room at last. This is just inside the door, in the southwest corner… if you stepped in and looked left around the door, this is what you’d see (look… there’s the other free chair!)(I can’t believe I forgot the closing parenthesis by the toilet paper… oooh, that bugs me):

Continuing on counter-clockwise around the room:

Pit stop… Behold, my tiny bathroom (my shirt, if you were wondering, says “You are here… Pueblo” with an arrow pointing to a spot in the galaxy that is, presumably, Pueblo):

My sink is broken. I mean, water comes out and stuff, but the sink proper has become unstuck from the vanity base, which has itself become devoid of its doors. It’s also intensely short, even for me– and I’m only 5′ 5-1/2″. I have to stoop over a little bit to wash my hands, which is annoying. I don’t even know why such a short sink should even be made, unless the world was overrun with super short people in the 1960s.

My bathroom is in a state of permanent renovation, or rather, we started to scrape the paint off, and then we stopped. And then everything broke. Eventually we are going to fix it up… we just finished fixing up the public areas of the house, so hopefully it will be soon.

Southeast corner of my room:

My brother gave me this for Christmas this past year… His roommate shot it for a class. I love it, because it so captures him:

The window (I wish I knew how to actually take pictures…. I couldn’t get a good one with the light as bright as it was):

My jade plant. I know it’s going to die any day now:

Northeast corner, and my guitar! I don’t play very well, and I haven’t picked it up in a long time, but I like playing.

My reading area:

Northwest corner of my room, containing my bed, my pendant lamps and three prints by Steven N. Meyers.

I love love love these lamps. I bought them at Target on sale, and I wish I had bought a whole bunch more. I love that the design is printed on the inside, so when they’re not on, they just look like white, hanging lamps. Switch ‘em on and instant drama.

Down my bed’s shirt, so to speak… I’m not known for keeping under the bed tidy, to say the least:

…And we’re back where we started:

Welp, this concludes our tour. Thanks for taking a peek into my surroundings; you’ve all been a fabulous crowd. I’ve been your host, Brooke of OhMySeven, America’s most professional-looking blogger.

  4. I love the velvet loveseat in the bedroom. Very 70’s creepy disco guy of you. Dramatic lights above the bed kinda sorta along those lines as well, although they were some pretty darn cool lights. Do you know if they are water resistant. I think they would be FLY around the back yard like it the trees and hanging from the patio cover.
