I Win! I Win! I Win!

I won a giveaway over at PuglyFeet! I received the cutest tiny little bottle of Sephora nail polish in Turquoise Blue #55.

Look how cute it is:

A little closer:

I also won a giveaway over at Loralee’s place… a $25 Amazon gift certificate! I bought a movie that I’ve been wanting to show to my little sister, but none of the rental places around here have it (The Trouble With Angels) and My Girl and this awesome ring:

That is all.

Oh! And we have a good home for the black pumps. Congratulations, CityStreams!

Giveaway!

Vintage Indie is hosting a giveaway from Flip & Tumble… they’re reusable grocery (or anything else) bags.  They’re super cool… they roll up until they’re like the size of an apple, so you can just toss them in your purse or glove compartment for easy access.  Go see!

Free To Good Home.

Lara sent out a tweet asking if anyone wanted a pretty pair of pumps a while ago, and I replied that I would love them, but she probably already had a ton of people who wanted them.  She told me that nope, I was the first (only?) one to respond.  She mailed them off and I received them along with a super-cute card a few days later.

In an uber-sad turn of events, they are just a little bit too small for my massive dogs.  I can get them on, but they’re a little snug, which means that if I ever wore them to go anywhere I would want to die within, like, 10 minutes.  So… if anyone wants a lovely pair of black velvety pumps, please drop me a comment telling me why your home would be a good home for these gems.

Note: For aesthetic reasons, my sister’s feet are the ones modeling these shoes.  Nobody wants to see my fat toes a-burstin’ out of them.  They actually fit her really nicely, but she’s 13 and not really interested in anything with a heel.

It’s Long… Bear With Me.

[Update: I look bored singing the song because I just learned it earlier that day... I was reading the words and chords, and also transposing in my head.  Like I said, go easy on me.  :)  Also, if you're curious about the chords/lyrics, there's a picture of them here (I didn't want to type them out, because I'm lazy).]

So as you may know, I traveled three hours north to visit my brother and sister-in-law and my brand new niece. I drove up there on Sunday night, after volunteering for a concert… it made for a pretty late night, but I was glad to do it. Plus, I got to meet Brent and Tam! It was just a quick meet-hug-chat-for-a-few-minutes, but it was cool to finally meet them.

So I left the concert at about 9 pm (man, I was super tired by the end of it, too, from standing up for almost 5 hours), and went home to grab my stuff. I ended up not leaving my house until almost 9:30 because I was chatting with my mom and sister.

Once ensconced in my car and headed toward the on-ramp, I realized that I had forgotten to pack my phone charger. Instead of turning around and driving the two minutes back home, I kept going, like the ‘tard I am. My phone lasted until Thursday, which was pretty amazing, considering the last time it was on the charger was Saturday night.

About an hour into the drive, I started getting super-sleepy. Even singing along to my music wasn’t helping, so I turned it off and started singing my way through They Might Be Giants’ “Flood” album from memory. That helped. I recorded some of it, but since it was like 10:30 by that point, they’re just videos of darkness with my sleepy, road-roughened voice floating nakedly out into space. I tweeted that I might include one or two, but that’s not happening. I will, however, swallow my fear and post a video of me singing a song we sing at church that my pastor set to music, based on Psalm 23… I don’t know where he found the phrasing, but it’s totally awkward… my brother and I used to joke that it was Psalm 23 according to Yoda. Please don’t laugh at my guitar ineptitude, or if you do, just keep it to yourself. Also, ignore my double chin.

It was so nice to hang out with my brother and sister-in-law, and of course my new niece. She is adorable! She has huge jowls… I want to eat her up. Om nom nom. I drank a lot of coffee and stayed up way too late -and intended-to-nap=but-never-got-around-to-it and got puked and pooped on and gave kisses and received gas smiles and basically left my heart there.

Look at her…

I’d Rather Have My Head Explode Than Wear A Bike Helmet.

Stefanie over at Stefanie Says has started a meme: Go to someecards.com (motto: “When you care enough to hit send”) and pick 5 cards that describe yourself in amazingly unflattering ways.

Here are mine:

Go thou, and do likewise. (Beware, however, that some of the cards there are foul. Just sayin’.)

Guest Posting!

I’m hanging out at Gretch-a-Sketch’s place today.

Go read.

I Just Realized Something.

I think I tweeted about my foot hurting really bad… the arch of my left foot. I can’t find it, because a) Twitter is down and b) the archives don’t go back that far, but I do know that I whined about it at some point. It was a persistent problem, and it was one of those pains that isn’t a terrible pain in and of itself, but because it was so constant, it was sort of making me feel like I couldn’t handle one more day of it.

But you know what I just realized? Since I got my Chacos, my foot hasn’t hurt at all. I think the arch support is really helping me… it’s like wearing real shoes, only more comfortable. I think it’s better for my feet than flip-flops, even though I still love them. And I have worn flip-flops a few times here and there, but mostly I’ve been wearing the Chacos.

I’m so HAPPY!

News…

I don’t think I’ve told y’all yet, but if you read my youngest brother’s blog you might already know this:  My oldest younger brother and his wife now have a blog (they’re the ones who just had a baby).  Go check it out if you feel so inclined.

In other news, I’ll be posting over at Gretch-a-Sketch’s tomorrow.  I’ll post the link when I have it.

That is all.

It Burns Usssss….

So y’all remember the new pool I blogged about (today, no less), right?

Yeah.

So I apparently forgot that my backyard is pretty sunny in the afternoon, especially between, oh, I don’t know… 12:30 and 2:00.  I also forgot that my skin never sees the light of day, being the body-self-conscious cave dweller that I am.

To make a long story short, I am burned.  I have a sports-bra-shaped white spot on my otherwise-pretty-red upper half.  Pretty awesome.  Also, my cheeks are pink (no, not THOSE cheeks).

In other words, tomorrow I will be remaining in my cave, (figuratively) licking my wounds.

New Pool!

I am usually not one for swimming, but today was the third time I’ve been swimming in three days. On Saturday I was housesitting for my pastor, and whenever I housesit I swim at night, because it’s better at night. Then yesterday and today, we swam in our new pool!

My brother and sister were playing this game where you throw a basketball at each other and you’re not allowed to catch it… you’re allowed to put your hands up to protect your face, but you can’t touch the ball. I liked the faces they were making:

So cute…
